Facebook Fans


How much more are Fans worth than non fans? A recent study shows that fans are much more likely to participate in desirable actions like purchasing, downloading apps and participating in contests and that the costs to get them to do so are much lower than non-fans. This would be the same for any engaged consumer though. Fans seem to do a few things very well.
1. They are a measurement for how engaging a product or campaign might be. This is valuable feedback for marketers. Fans can make good targets for lookalike products and services and a good launching pad for introducing new products.
2. Engaging your fans has a viral effect, particularly when they have "Wall Apps" and contests that their extended network is exposed to.
3. They continue to build the facebook brand, which allows them to build the value of facebook overall. Marketers that are working to collect fans are developing followers not only of themselves, but for facebook as well.
