Mobile Marketing and RadioShack

During this tough economic period, Companies are not depending on traditional channels to increase sales and reach out to customers. Marketing plays an important role in reaching out to customers and companies are not only dependent on TV, radio, and in store marketing and advertisement. Marketing landscape is changing towards Digital marketing and particularly mobile marketing.

Radio Shack is a great example of company that is using mobile marketing to reach out to its customers and increase sales. RadioShack is driving consumers’ in-store, as well as letting them buy products through its mobile-optimized site via a targeted mobile initiative. The company is running targeted mobile banner ads within Pandora. The ads take consumers to an optimized page where they can buy items they need.

The campaign resulted in 24.2 % unaided brand awareness, up from 15.8 %, it was claimed. There was a 5.9 point directional increase in the percentage of respondents who agreed that RadioShack is a "Top Wireless Store," at an 86.5 % confidence level.
Among the 25-34 year old target age group, unaided brand awareness increased 10.9 points, while the "Top Wireless Store" metric jumped 16.7 points. The campaign outperformed mobile norms for unaided brand awareness by 2.2 percentage points.
