Title II
Today President Obama stated that he is in favor of classifying broadband internet service under Title II, making broadband access a utility. While supporting net neutrality is great, and the only people who don't support net neutrality are evil white men in dark rooms with cigars and black hats, suggesting the FCC regulate the internet like a power line is silly. First, the President has very little power in this situation. Second, regulating the internet is a terrible idea, the FCC isn't efficient, and why would one expect a law written almost a century ago to handle a problem generated by the 21st century technology. My guess is times are tough for Barak, and he needs a win, so suggesting a course of action that allows newspapers to include a "President comes out for net neutrality" headline gives people what they want without actually giving them anything at all.
