More and more people
shop in a store while checking their smartphone, which means there are some really
interesting opportunities to use
smartphones to improve consumers’
in-store shopping experience?
We can see some retailers are creating more engaging experience in many ways using mobile phone. For example, some stores have
QR on their display. When consumers shop in the store, they can use their phone to scan a QR
code and get more product information. When they do that, the retailer can offer a promotion for the product with the QR code. Consumers can also add scanned products to a wish list
to compare with other products.
Some retailers also developed their own apps
on smartphone. Not only you can web shopping using the app, but also you can
communicate with the retailer. For example, if there’s a command on the
app to check into the store. When the
consumer checks into the
store and press the button, the
retailer knows they have you in
the store so they can interact with you, send a text message or an alert within the app by offering a particular product
or special discount 50% for you.
Thus, there are tremendous new ways to create
mobile marketing strategy. A lot of the
retailers view in-store mobile as a significant differentiation opportunity.
