Advertourney Anyone??

A close friend runs a very clever site on the internet. The site is Moola.com. The premise is simple.

The guys over at Moola gives each person a penny to begin with, then pairs them up in head-to-head games where they can wager their penny and the winner takes all. The user then advances to a higher level where they can wager 2 pennies and ultimately gain 4 cents. Theoretically, at the end of 30 consecutive iterations, the user should be left with approximately $10.7 million and Moola will happily write the user a check.

They must be very generous guys right? Well, there is a pretty cool model at work here. Every time a user plays a game they have to watch a video advertisement. The cool part of the model is that the advertiser knows that the user is paying attention because Moola actually tests the user about the ad. Nothing too tough, mostly just really basic info. What's especially cool about this is that at every level above 1, Moola isn't giving out anything to the users to play, but are still being payed out by the advertisers.

The games themselves are very well done. They are all simple (yet addictive) numbers games that require a combination of skill and luck. Now that I've taken this class, I would venture to say that Moola receives a lot more over 30 year old women users than they had initially expected.

I've seen Moola really evolve over the past two years as Jason's vision is beginning to materialize. The site is still in Beta and I can get any of you guys an invitation to join. Also, Jason has been publishing his own blog about Moola developments.
