Web 2.0 for Market Intel

Freshbooks, an online invoicing service, launched a new product yesterday that allows it 100,000 registered business users to opt-in to a program that would ask them to identify themselves into 1 of 12 different industry group and into 1 of 86 different sectors within those groups. By doing so, those users would have access to the aggregated information of everyone else in that sector thereby providing them with information about what their competitors are charging for a job and how quickly they get paid.

If a significant portion of their registrants opt-in the information could be very valuable and could lead other services to offer the same kind of program.
