Google +

According to http://techcrunch.com/2012/08/01/google-plus-on-hold/ Google has opted for putting a stop to all acquisitions related to Google+, at least until the end of this year. Even if the company has been giving an optimistic speech regarding the number of active users the social network has gained during the last couple of months, it seems that Google + is not doing that well. Nevertheless, the Google+ project itself is not on hold. Still, if the rumor is indeed true and Google is cutting back on expanding the team’s resources, it could be an indication that Google+ is not generating the expected results.

I truly believe that Google + is not a poor project at all. But, as we mentioned in class several times, social network's value depends on user-generated-content. If Google+ is not able to captivate more active users the social network will never result succesful. There is a need to chase influencers to try and bring people that have been spending too much time in other networks. The plan is not easy. It entails a exhausting and long process to convince individuals to modify their routine.
