Google's latest financial results indicated that the number of clicks on mobile ads grew 26% this year. While the price per click has fallen as well, the surge in volume has more than made up for this decline. Analysts estimate that the total number of paid clicks will be around 125 billion in 2013, which is roughly equivalent to 36 clicks per smartphone, tablet and PC globally.
Trends like this indicate that mobile phones are prompting more users to do more online research using their devices, and have positive implications for the share prices of firms like Facebook and Twitter, who are also betting on more revenue from mobile advertising. At the same time, Google is considering a device that helps display results from a laptop to a nearby TV - which would provide another screen for companies to advertise on.
