Business without mobile risks to miss a lot of money: the UK case

Mobile presence is becoming more and more important in every business, including Small and Medium Enterprise. However, the majority of SME in UK is not responding fast enough to consumers' changing habits: almost 66% of the 4.9 million SME in UK do not currently have a mobile presence, risking to lose more than £50 billion in potential revenues that could come from mobile sources in the next year.

The huge potential revenue coming from mobile sources is not surprising, considering that 46% of UK consumers use mobile devices as primary tool for purchase decision making (http://digitalmarketingmagazine.co.uk/digital-marketing-news/46-of-uk-consumers-now-use-mobile-devices-as-their-primary-tool-in-purchase-decision-making/754): consumers are experiencing the convenience of mobile and turn to their devices at multiple points while considering a purchase, often relying on them as their exclusive source for information. This creates a significant opportunity for brands to reach consumers, drive in-store foot traffic and ultimately influence their purchases.

So, why SME are not investing to be present in mobile? The main reasons are the following: (i) lack of technical knowledge, (ii) high perceived cost of development, and (iii) uncertainty on the usefulness of mobile presence in their business.
