It is only starting: The Project Glass by Google
Wearable technology has been a theme from the future that we tend to get excited to see in high budget Hollywood movies like Robocop or old-school cartoons like Inspector Gadget. Sergey Brin recently lead a demo of Google's Project Glass at Google I/O Conference. The introduction included four skydivers jumping from a zeppelin right above San Francisco and bikers doing flips at a rooftop. Google Glass is not just a cool product by Google but it is a bold move to narrow the gap between the technology and humanity.
The technology should work for us but instead we have become prisoners of electronic devices. We have changed our habits and adjusted to digital social life. Now, our interactions are both in real and in digital worlds. Perhaps, it is time to bring these two worlds closer by making technology more personal and easier to interact.
We like to share everything from cat playing videos to roommate pranks. Blogging, posting, tweeting, and facebooking are all parts of the sharing process. Perhaps, the experience can be more human. Wearable devices can keep us in touch and share the moments we meant to remember. At the same time, the interface is much easier than typing on an iPhone screen (which is probably the best product available in the smart phone market).
With its $1,500 price, Google Glass is definitely more exciting than the dolphin jetpack that lets you swim like one. Perhaps, we will all wait until the Ray-Ban models come out. Then, it might be hard to say "no".
