Google Fiber

Google is launching a revolutionary service called Google Fiber. Google Fiber promises a connection speed 100 times faster than the current broadband service providers. This makes for a very interesting story as it could revolutionize the functioning of internet businesses and services. It provides a platform for a myriad of improvements such as faster movie downloads, high-definition video stream quality and communities staying connected through instant flow of information. One application which interests me particularly is the possibility of watching Live-TV. Until now, content producers have been hesitant to stream live content on the internet due to bandwidth issues causing a loss in quality. Even though it will be difficult to uproot the cable companies, there is a possibility that Google Fiber can completely replace cable providers through internet TV. Since TV watching habits are moving towards an On-Demand TV model, this will work well with internet TV allowing for more user interaction in terms of what to watch. Of course this all depends on how well Google lives up to the implementation, but I'm excited nonetheless!
