What's next for e-commerce?

With online retail expected to grow to a $300 billion market in the United States by 2015, many entrepreneurs and marketers alike are wondering about the future of e-commerce. What will it hold?

Mashable editors asked founders to make 10 predictions. Here are the top 3 predictions I thought were most realistic: customization, shopping experience convergence and 360 degree customer engagement.

As customers can easily compare products online, customization is becoming a key differentiator between retailers. Retailers can get ahead of the game by analyzing their product set and picking out which product attributes they can customize to give customers the highest value for the lowest cost to their businesses.

With regards to multi-channel shopping experiences - as more customers take their shopping experience online, retailers are witnessing their high street presence turning into more of a showroom than a store. In order to ensure that the link between each of their channels (online, high street, over the phone) is seamless, retailers will need to be able to engage with their customers across all of those platforms in real time.
