Saudi Arabia #Ad
I thoroughly enjoyed this NY Times article about Instagram influencers who have been paid to promote travel tourism in Saudi Arabia. As a country that is known for its extreme censorship, ruthless executions and role in the journalist, Jamal Khashoggi's murder, it was surprising to see that they were trying to market themselves as a friendly place for outsiders to visit. As a move to decrease the country's reliance on oil and diversify its economy, the kingdom's tourist board plans to expand its visa program to 49 countries. Only time will tell if this will help both the country's image and economy.
