WeWork’s Startup Party Ends With Some 2,000 Jobs Set to Be Cut

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/wework-startup-party-ends-2-133709945.html

So more job cuts, more job cuts, more job cuts!  This seems to be the new way of trying to gain profits and cut costs.  However, I wonder if folks ever really stop to think if this is in the long run what makes the most sense.  What is happening at WeWorks has happened in many other places and it will continue to happen.  I think it is so sad that we think people are so easily disposable.

This week at my job we let go of a bunch of people.  This came without warning and instantly.  There are two sides that are not considered in this equation.  You have the folks that are let go- which could be an incredible talent that could help you grow.  Then you have the folks that stay- they are now afraid that they might be next and have more work to do.  The entire companies suffer when this is done and I am not sure that the folks on top who make these decisions truly understand all the consequences of masses layoffs.  There is no more job security and the longer I am in the corporate world the lounder I hear these words.  The only thing you know for sure is that changes are coming. You need to have plans A, B, and C and be ready for whatever comes your way.
