The end of the world we know

Is this the end of the known world? Well, maybe, but this time I am not talking of the Maya's predictions but HTC's knew phone, the EVO, combined with Sprint's new 4G network.

There is however a similarity in the two doomsday scenarios: you know the exact date of both. HTC's EVO can be preordered now and it will be shipped during the summer.

So why is it the end of the known world? 4G and the EVO basically transforms the way we communicate. Many claim that this will be the best phone ever released, leaving behind iphoners in even its most important USP: the coolness factor. From a communication perspective, every phone will be transformed in a router, meaning they can communicate with each other and for a virtual grid. Theoretically, if enough people buy, there will be no such thing any more as being left with no signal in the metro, or other areas outside of the direct reach of 4G base stations.

With that move, the fierce AT&T vs. Verizon battle about 3G coverage seems a bit outdated. Sorry guys about the billions invested in the network and especially in marketing it...

TechCrunch just published their review of EVO, And I love their description of major cons:

1) Horrible battery life
2) Terrible battery life
3) Really, really bad battery life
