Facebook: World's Largest Social Network and The Open Web

Interesting article on the way Facebook is handling your privacy when it comes to google, bing etc...

Facebook is giving its users the power to share and make the world more open and connected. However not everyone is a supporter of this interconnected world. Densely interlinked Web pages, blogs, new articles and Tweets are all visible to people. Instead of contributing to this interconnected, open Web, Facebook's popularity is often draining it of attention, energy and posts that are in the public view.

It seems as though Facebook's hybrid of public and private access run contrary to the Web's open environment and connectedness. Defenders of the Facebook information stream argue that is does not displace the open Web but merely adds a new layer to it. Yet there seems to be a cost. Members are now spending more than 500 billion minutes a month on Facebook!!!

Will people soon be expanding their number of online friends at the expense of befriending actual people in real everyday life?

For additional information make sure to read the article online as I posted in the link above.
