My Entire Personal Life Is On the Internet, But I Don't Want it to be Public!
Plain and simple, some people are idiots. If you care about privacy, then don't post your entire personal life on the internet. The recent controversy over the privacy settings on Facebook is ridiculous. The entire premise behind Facebook is to share your personal life with others on the internet. Most people I know, have 15-20 close friends, and maybe an extended group of 100 friends. On Facebook however, the friend count is usually 300+, and in many cases more than 1000. Given the ubiquity of the site amongst colleagues, co-workers, and classmates, Facebook is no longer the place to be posting the most intimate details of your life. But if you insist on posting such details, change your privacy settings to ensure that only your friends have access. It's not rocket science folks. Facebook is a for profit company. By allowing greater access to your profile, the company is able to sell more ads. It's all about profits. In the end, each of us needs to take responsibility for what we post instead of placing the blame on Facebook.
