The Power of Google+

I personally don't know anyone on Google+ and most surveys on most widely used social media networking sites don't even include it.  Studies show that only 35% of companies are on Google+ as compared to at least 70% on Facebook or Twitter.

However, it sounds like companies should start thinking about it.  Since Google+ is clearly a Google product, Google+ content gets indexed and will count towards your SEO ranking and will take preference over other social networking sites like Facebook.  Another compelling reason to get on the platform is that Google+ hashtags will be available on Google search.  While normal search results will come up, on the right hand side of the page (which is valuable real estate), Google+ postings with the hashtag will now come up too.  Lastly, Youtube comments will also be powered by Google+, which means that most active Youtube users will end up needing Google+.

Google is certainly increasingly controlling peoples' dominance on Google products, forcing them into the Google ecosystem.
