Digital advertising is expected to top $1b in the 2016 election, the highest spend ever and more than 8x the 2012 election. The company Xaxis claims they have the personal and politcal opinion of 166 million Americans that they can target with laser-like precision for political advertising. They are able to do this with the increased sophistication of digital advertising, which now can target people not just on the sites they visit, but also on their age, gender, location, seearch and browsing history, past purchases, and many other factors.

I think this is a great concept from Xaxis that should provide a high margin revenue steam, albeit cyclical. With the combination of all of the demographic data points in conjunction with the sites visited, Xaxis can make prediction whether a person is conservative, independent, liberal, or apathetic. They can even conduct surveys on different profiles to determine the likehood someone with that profile would vote for a specific person, in turn backing up their data with polling results, sine you can never know how someone actually voted. Targeting specific ads to selected profiles would be of extreme high value to political campaigns.
