Techcrunch this evening reported that Twitter may be looking to acquire Sense Networks in a move that may help it improve the monetization of it's targeted local adds. Sense Networks is a NYC based company that collects mobile location data and creates a behavioral user profile enabling companies to serve ads more likely to be useful to that user.
While Twitter has not commented on the rumor, such an acquisition makes strategic sense for a company that has as many mobile users as it does without a compelling means to monetizing them. Keep a watch in the mobile media/advertising space as this is one area that is undoubtedly going to heat up!
