Yahoo doesn't currently do this?!?! Forgive my ignorance, but I had assumed that Yahoo would use its advantage as a search engine operator to more intelligently target display ads (until now, Yahoo has targeted ads based on the clicks web surfers leave behind). This has long been the bread-and-butter of successful sites such as Amazon and Google, and any consumer who has used these sites knows that the ads can be quite prescient.
The timing of the announcement coincides conspicuously with the failed negotiation with Microsoft last year and pressure from Wall Street to figure out what to do with its search business.
