IPHONE APP THAT ALLOWS USERS TO SHARE AD BLOCKING LISTS

Bad news for mobile advertising, or any kind of advertising on your smartphone.

Princeton Junior, Luke Li, created the iPhone app, Refine, in an effort to block intrusive, annoying ads.

Refine is different from other ad blockers in that users can create their own rules for blocking ads and can share these rules with other users of Refine.

Some examples are blocking all images and videos, blocking sites deemed as clickbait, or any other site that doesn't deserve attention.

Although the Refine only has 23,000 users, this number is expected to grow as the app's interface becomes simpler along the way.

As Li have already said, adblockers may be a justifiable response to distracting, intrusive ads. In a sense, adblockers may be users' way of gaining back control of their surf on the net.
