The big "G" was busy blocking ads in 2016, the company states that they blocked 1.7 billion "bad ads" last year. Many of these "bad ads" have shifted from what we may think, they are not spam or adult content based. Many of the "bad ads" targeted by Google are ads that lead to misleading products (weight loss pills), mislead users to install harmful software, or even ads that offer predatory lending.
It is clear that Google has not yet mastered the art of blocking these "bad ads" and predatory companies were quick to adapt to the new rules blocking the Google algorithms. A simple change of APR rates was enough to make these ads reappear. Other innovations in the "art" of bad ads include hiding the ads as tabloids ("tabloid cloakers") and fake news. These ads will often lead to misleading products.
