There has been so much written about how the internet has completely upended the music and news industries. When was the last time you bought a cd? Do you get a newspaper delivered to your home? Probably not. New cars are now ipod ready and cds are a thing of the past. But what about movies and tv shows?
DVDs made VHS obsolete. HD-DVD and Blue Ray usurped DVDs. Blue Ray squashed HD-DVD. Now the internet is replacing Blue Ray. Why would you go to the store to buy a disk that you can only play on a player. Internet content can be rented and it can be played on any number of devices ranging from your phone to your home theater.
The unique thing about the Internet's take over of Blue Ray is that Blue Ray's content is superior in quality. People have voted that easy of access is the most important feature of digital content. I predict that we will be hearing a lot more about the upcoming battle of the internet vs the movie industry.
