Facebook Tests Mobile-Ad Network, Challenging Google and Apple

Facebook is looking for growth in the mobile ad market, which is expected to grow to a whopping $4.4 billion dollars by 2013. They’re looking to partner with ad exchanges to serve banner ads on mobile apps. They started testing ads on third party mobile apps this week. According to an eMarkter estimate, facebook is estimated to generate $73 million in mobile-ad revenue in 2012, which is just over half of Twitters estimated mobile ad revenue of $130.
The financial terms with ad exchanges are going to be based on some sort of revenue share whereby the seller of the ad takes the majority (approx. 60%-70%).
