Will Make Video For Food

Okay, maybe Vimeo's new plan to help video creators monetize their videos won't include turkey sandwiches, but it is blazing a new path far from the traditional commercial advertisements and banner ads you'll find on YouTube.

Vimeo wrote on their blog this week that they are introducing a new suite of tools for its Plus and PRO members, called Vimeo Creator Services.

When you view any video created by a Plus or PRO member, you will see a new button which will allow you to "tip" the video creator.

"Show your appreciation for this video with a tip, which is like a high-five with money in your hand."

Is this a video creator's replacement for Kickstarter?  Not likely - Vimeo keeps 15% of the tip! (compared to 5-8% for the typical Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign)

Vimeo also announced that in the coming months they will be launching a new Pay-to-View service.  Now that is exciting!  They haven't released many details, but this has the potential to let little people (like me) charge for video views...
