How to become "invisible" on the internet

As we all know, everything we do on the internet is being registered and kept somewhere. What we don't all know, however, is that there are ways to make such close surveillance much more difficult and, as a result, get more privacy. Here are 8 ways to help accomplish such goal:
- Use the anonymous mode on browsers (so as to avoid people who you share your computer with to keep track of what you've been doing online);
- Use Tor as a browser to hide your IP;
- Configure apps and services prohibiting them from accessing your data;
- Use Ghostery to avoid websites that have widgets from Facebook or Google to monitor most of your activity there;
- Try out HTTPS Everywhere: it forces some websites to use the HTTPS protocol, which is safer and uses communication with cryptography;
- Think before giving out your personal information: don't trust every website out there!
- Try out DuckDuckGo: this alternative search engine promises not to spy on what you're doing - even though its search results are usually not as good as Google's;
- Try out Hushmail: an email service provider that promises to use cryptography in your messages, so as to keep your privacy.
