Net Neutrality - repealed

Today, net neutrality was repealed. I was very surprised that there was not that much coverage about it.

Let start with what Net Neutrality was. Net Neutrality were a set of rules that prevented internet service providers from giving preference to certain sites or services. For example is you pay Comcast for internet, they were not allowed to slow down your connection anytime you watched Netflix or YouTube. They were also not allowed to prevent you from opening certain sites, Facebook for example.

The repeal of these rules could affect us as consumers and even as marketers. Some internet providers are part of large media conglomerates (Comcast for example owns NBC Universal and AT&T might merge with Time Warner)

I'm concerned that sites where we advertise or create content for might be blocked, or speeds on competing services (other than TV) might become slow, think YouTube.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the internet evolves without these rules in place.
