Digital Marketing has been used as a way to intimately understand a company's customer base. But as early as two years ago, marketers were looking to the internet to in essence "stalk" their target audience. Now a days it is incredibly easy for anyone to access information about another person and marketers have been walking a very fine line with regards to customer discovery and a respecting privacy. This article expressing the need for marketers to start "utilizing the large amounts of personal data their customers are sharing publicly every day"
That thinking has become integrated in current day marketing but some shifts are happening to limit this data digging in an effort to protect personal privacy
