Best in Class Instagram Advertisements

Instagram is finally rolling out traditional advertisements into its platform. This will of course be a huge revenue source for the company and create a new channel for digital advertisers to promote their brand. However, some brands have been using instagram as a way to advertise for a while and have become quite good at it.

The best example of this is Patagonia. Patagonia as a brand has been consistent in its messaging as a lifestyle brand that consumers can trust to support them in extreme sports and every day activities. Patagonia uses instagram to promote their brand identity through extreme sports posts that incorporate their products.

A second example is Redbull. Redbull uses instagram to promote contests and post extreme sporting activities that demonstrate what you can do if drink redbull (or at least what consumers would like to do). The company has a large following base and has used instagram as a free advertising outlet. 

In the coming weeks, I am looking forward to watching brands that seem to have mastered instagram in its current stage adapt and change as they can now pay for ads. I hope that they use the platform to promote posts that attract more users to follow the brands and create a loyal consumer base.
