Can social media change someone's behavior?

Each of us has been experiencing a hard time due to this pandemic. Many countries and institutes are still trying to change people's mindset and behavior regarding this virus, they taught us things such as constant wearing of a mask, practicing social distancing, etc.

In Japan, the government declared a state of emergency from April to May of this year, but we didn't need to implement a lockdown, so the government just urged its citizens to stay at home as much as possible, as you might already know, we, Japanese are known for our obedience, so almost everyone in my fatherland followed the safety protocols given.

At this point, many Japanese celebrities and influencers use social media platforms to encourage people to stay at home, just like other celebrities do worldwide. These people hold live streaming events which make the public binge-watch and stay at their respective houses. I would say that those events and programs are truly fascinating, and I personally enjoy them.

I think that this is a groundbreaking event, because many Japanese realized the effectiveness and potential of social media. I am unsure of the nitty-gritty, I don't know how many people are impacted by this activity, but one thing is for sure, social media can really influence people.
