A news that catch my attention yesterday was:
I am highly interested at how Nike's advertising strategy in this World Cup may influence the sponsorship of international sports events in the next few years? Sponsorship has always been one of the most important financial sources for sports events such as Olympic Games, World Cup, Formula 1, and World Boxing Associations. The rapid expansion of sports events actually causes huge financial shortage and even though the large amount of sponsorship still can't afford the expense of of these events. The successful World Cup buzz created by Nike may become an incentive for those brands to rethink their advertising strategy. Should they still spend so much on a sports event in the following years? How about shifting expenses to create buzz as Nike does? I am afraid that once these major sponsors begin to think like that, not only the financial statement of these sports events may suffer, but also the existence of them may become a big question mark.
