A new study posted by Typepad and picked up by Mashable, revealed a 50% increase in referral traffic for blogs that installed the newly launched "Like" widget for the sidebar and post footer in their blogs. The idea is that readers of the blog can click "Like" and have a comment posted on their facebook profile without ever having to leave the blog publisher's website.
Clearly an impressive result though somewhat predictable, we are seeing social media linking/widget tools funneling down the pipeline and empowering opinionated users at the smallest of levels. Where the proliferation of sharing, linking and micro-blogging tools forces all users to assume a more active role as web users, rather than the historic passive position.
