When opening the Google homepage this morning, you can't help but notice it looks very similar to Bing. Having launched customizable homepages last week, Google is showcasing these images to all surfers for today only.
This new homepage design has been causing a lot of buzz on Twitter - a large number of users are unhappy with the new images saying that it detracts from the iconic clean white background that has come to be associated with Google. I agree. However, I wonder if Google's latest move to further personalize the search engine comes from Apple's decision to include Bing as a search engine option on the Iphone 4. Perhaps this decision has reminded Google has being the default engine is not guareenteed.
