Take a guess how much Seinfeld has pulled in during the last 12 years from reruns? Can you say $2.3 BILLION!! In addition, the show pulled in about $380 million from reruns on cable. That's some serious money. All told, with 180 episodes made, this comes out to around $14 million per 30 minute show. This easily puts Seinfeld as the top grossing TV show of all-time.
I tried to find an episode online to no avail...at least not legally. I found a couple of blogs mentioning that Jerry should get his show online asap but with the cash rolling in, what's the rush? I certainly think content creators should be extra careful how they transition onto the web. They could easily destroy a lot of the value of their content by not securing a business model that at least captures most of the revenues lost when syndication pricing inevitably declines.
