Enthuse has created a platform (and raised $1.3M funding) that will allow sports fans to receive awards for engaging with their favorite sports teams. Checking into a game, uploading pictures involving team paraphernalia, and the like would all count towards loyalty points. This product is not specific to pro teams, but also to NCAA teams, giving Entuse the potential to capture a large base of avid fans of all ages. I, for one, post about the Washington Redskins (who are going to beat the Giants tonight) all the time, and would love to receive some sort of reward for doing so. It helps the brand (of the Washington Redskins) and it makes me want to post more, so everybody wins.

Note: I believe this sort of model would work for other businesses/brands, such as music artists...I often wonder why my own posts related to niche artists go unnoticed...I'm basically advertising for them for free.

It's an interesting platform and has some potential, particularly with the pro sports teams being able to collect data on user demographics and preferences for a relatively small cost investment. I agree that the platform seems more useful with up-and-coming artists, who can receive valuable promotion and brand awareness while building a loyal customer base. Pro sports teams usually will have users who are already loyal and already understand the basic product; artists are still trying to show and explain to the public what their product is. Thus, the reward system offered by Enthuse would be geared to meet that different mission: insider info on artist performances, exclusive communication with the artists themselves, first-look access at new material, etc. Personally, I believe that the potential for this product is actually greater in artistic hipsterville than in the jock-o-sphere!
