Yesterday, WhatsApp hit the tech news circuit because of a
somewhat speculative article in TechCrunch asserting that Facebook has been
sniffing around the mobile messaging company. However, this article describes
how according to multipl sources, the Facebook acquisition talks aren’t
happening (right at this moment at least).
I found this article interesting
especially since we talked about mobile platforms and apps just yesterday in class. WhatsApp is one of
the largest mobile apps in the world, hands down, far ahead of Instangram
(before Facebook bought it) and also a big OTT headache for many of the carriers - it'd be interesting to see what future lies for this company/app.
