The interesting thing is that while this is happening, the advertisements are being able to improve Windows image in the mind of customers, which leads to the thinking that it could be an industry movement, of people turning away from Windows devices towards other types of electronics, such as tablets, and smartphones.

Users are looking for simple interfaces that are cost-effective and competent. Given Window's faux-pas in the past (Windows Vista anyone?) and their reputation for hardware and software issues, I would be skeptical of their entry into the tablet market given Apple's leadership in this area. Perhaps improving brand image is the most valuable thing that could come out of their Surface campaigning, as that is something that can be extremely difficult to reclaim and will benefit sales of future iterations of the Surface tablet and operating systems.
