This is an interesting article as it is an early sign of large company that displays ads fighting back against ad blockers. Google is punishing users by disabling the "Skip Ad" button that appears for users after a few seconds. According to the article, this only works on Chrome so it is to be seen if the can enable this feature for viewers on any browser.
Given Google's clout and control of so many platforms, it would be difficult for an ad-blocker to beat Google. Not only Google, but many companies rely solely on ads to generate revenue therefore a Utopian world of no ads could not exist. It remains to be seen how all of this will play out, but given this action by Google, it proves that it will be a tough battle to achieve successful blocking of ads.
