The next J .K.Rowling ?
For all the would-be J.K Rowlings out there who cannot get a Random House to agree to publish their books, there is hope yet. Harness the power of internet to publish your own novel. Admitted that blogging and harnessing the power of social media might get you more followers and maybe a book/movie deal a k a Julie and Julia, but if you are more serious about prose, plots and endings , following are the sites you can use to express your literary creations
1. Lulu
2. Blurb
3. CreateSpace
4. CafePress
5. Webook
6. Xlibris
The prices range from completely free to as high as 300 USD. The range of services can include your personal editor, ready made templates and layouts , the ability to import images from Flickr or Picassa, the ability to create digital media, forums for collaborating with other writers, the ability to sell it through Third party sites like Amazon , Barnes and Noble. You can link up your content to Google books to put it on iGoogle and also publish it on Kindle ( Createspace) and Nook ( B&N Publt). For the actual writing if Microsoft Office web doesnot make the cut, there are a ton of word processors out there like Google docs, Zoho Writer, Thinkfree Office Write.
Well as for the imagination, that will be exclusively yours!
