Digital Ad Trends Worldwide

I know in class we focus on the US digital market, but always interesting to put that in a broader context. eMarketer just came out with a forecast for mobile worldwide spending. It estimates that this year, the US will for the first time lead all other countries in the world in mobile advertising spending (with a year-over-year growth rate of ~96%), displacing Japan as the frontrunner. Mobile ad spending worldwide will reach approximately $6.43 billion in 2012, but despite this rapid growth remains a very small sliver of the overall advertising budget, representing only 1% of total ad spending dollars (print, TV and internet are the main mediums, among others).
