NY Times Article Highlights Growing Influence of Digital Marketing at Advertising Week

As a follow on to Helen's great post on her experience at Advertising Week, I wanted to share with everyone the below article from the New York Times highlighting the event, as well as the growing influence of digital marketing and social media in advertising in general. As we have discussed in class, this segment of the advertising industry has been growing at double digit rates and is poised to continue to take a larger piece of the marketing pie. The Times notes that much of the advertising week event was devoted to discussing online advertising. Some of the interesting highlights of the event detailed in the article included the following:

-Facebook conducted a Q&A session on advertising on Facebook, discussing whether or not using "clicks" as a method of measurement was effective for digital marketing campaigns going forward.

-More than 50% of Twitter users tweet while watching television, so the ability for  marketers/brands to connect with customers via television and Twitter is enhanced.
