YouGov BrandIndex interviewed and measured Millennials' current customer scores on various websites where people between ages 19 and 29 visited or purchased products in past 30 days. The top 5 brands with the highest current customer scores were: Youtube, Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Walmart. Brands such as Uber, Instagram, Lyft, Snapchat, and TLC had the largest change in current customer rankings.
I was surprised to see many national retail stores such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreens, on the top current customer scores list. Also, the list also emphasized the fact that social media (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat) is a big part of what the Millennials group access most frequently online. Some other brands such as Ace Hardware and Puma were also on the list of most improved current customer ranking. YouGov BrandIndex' CEO Marzilli quoted: "The existence of brands on this list that weren’t around 10 or 15 years ago suggests that, for millennials, the most important thing is that the brand is relevant and resonates with any consumer group, So if the brand doesn’t provide the value, it doesn’t matter.” The brands need to evolve as consumer preferences changes.
