Slow websites cost retailers a lot of money

SmartBear created an infographic that pointed out some interesting metrics on which retailers and their e-commerce businesses are impacted by wait times. As discussed in class, wait times for websites to load lead to lower conversion rates, lower customer satisfaction and generally turns traffic away from the brand/site. For instance, a study of travel sites showed that 57% of people will abandon the website after 3 seconds. For reference, the average wait time for a site to load is 10 seconds (top 2,000 retailers). As e-commerce is only expected to increase from today's levels, paying attention website load times is crucial.

Personally, longer wait times would definitely deter me from visiting certain websites. I believe people shop more online due to convenience and for efficiency purposes; if a website is not loading, I would move on to another site just to get something faster.
