Google removed more bad ads.

Google removed more bad ads.

In 2016, Google took down 1.7 billion ads that violated our advertising policies, more than double the amount of bad ads they took down in 2015. According to Google, typical bad ads include ads for payday loan, ads for illegal products and misleading ads. As internet ads became more popular, this kind of removal work also became more time-consuming yet essential. One thing I felt about this fact is that Google could be a sort of "authority" showing a set of values. For example, the definition of "ads for payday loan" is relatively obvious. How about "ads for illegal products"? It is not always obvious because, at least, the definition of legal/illegal would be different in each country. "Misleading ads" would have a large room to interpret for some cases. Considering the fact that Google has so much influence on everyone in the world, Google could not only determine good or bad, but also express it indirectly. I fully understand the necessity of the removal work, but at the same time that work could encourage certain values in the future.
