James Bond Joins the Digital Era

In the 50-year history of the 007 film franchise, the most recent installment Skyfall is the first James Bond film to rely on a heavy digital marketing campaign. For the film's global roll out over the past few weeks, marketers have launched multiple online promos and contest to generate buzz and box office sales from the U.K. to India.

Skyfall has also integrated digital marketing tactics with the film's promo partners. Just one example is promotional partner Heineken released a Facebook game app called "Crack the Case"that starred Daniel Craig and the newest Bond girl.

Social media marketing has been at the center of the campaign. The one & only James Bond has a Twitter page with 100k followers and a Facebook page with almost 14 million likes! With future installments no doubt in the works this is social marketing capital that can effectively be leveraged to keep consumer engagement going until the next film release.
