Mobile ad’s success is not accidental

Compared to traditional online advertising, mobile ads are known to be much more successful with high Click-Through-Rate. The article below is interesting because it provides with statistics showing that part of this success is not based on people intentionally pressing on an ad but rather on clumsy fingers! This made me realize that indeed, we often click on a mobile ad by trying to close it, which rarely happens on a desktop.
However, this does not mean that mobile ads are not effective. Even when discounting the CTR to take out the impact of accidental clicking, you still come out with impressive CTR, much higher than online advertising. One last comment regards the metric itself. For mobile advertising, we might need to measure the impact of an ad campaign with different indicators that the traditional CTR. On example could be the number of seconds you spend on the landing page after clicking on an ad.
