Social Television Experience

Microsoft is aiming to create a space where social media and TV meet to create a social television experience by infusing the MTV Europe Music Awards with its new Windows 8 operating system. Heidi Klum will host the awards show live on stage while MTV host Sway will be backstage with the Microsoft Windows 8-powered Video Wall Studio. Using the colorful tile interface, viewers will be able to track what happens backstage, social media updates, and viewer poll results.

The aim is for the audience to be watching the show on TV but also to be interacting through tablets and phones to see additional related content. Viewers of the MTV EMA's can download a mobile app to interact with the show and live stream the backstage show; thus enabling MTV to reach more music fans from around the world.
